PELI ADVERTISEMENT FEATURE

Built toprotect Peli cases are tough and now evenmore portable thanks to the award- winning Air range W hen it comes to protecting precious equipment, Peli has long been the number one choice of professionals all

around the world. Since its launch in 1976, the American- made cases have survived crashing down ravines, floating in rivers, being run over by four-wheel drive trucks and even surviving a missile attack on a US helicopter. The cases are built to be tough, made fromhigh-impact plastic resin that can withstand low and high temperatures. The corners are rounded to deflect and absorb impact, deflecting energy through the whole case and insulating the contents from damage. There’s an automatic equalisation valve to adjust air pressure without letting in water, and a neoprene O-ring seal to keep the elements out. The latches are tough, and fitted with stainless steel hinge pins. And for extra security there are metal eyelets for locking the case with padlocks. The range has been tested for vibration, heat, leakage and prevention of dust ingress. They are drop-tested on concrete - with a load inside - from a height of six feet on to all corners. They are submerged for 30minutes at a depth of one metre, have a

set is made fromhigh-visibility yellow material. On deeper cases, like the new range of deeper 1507, 1607 and 1637 cases, the Padded Divider set is double layer, customisable to your kit and come with elastic straps to keep everything in place. But the most versatile system is the TrekPak, customdesigned for specific Peli cases. This is a systemof very light and protective dividers that you customise to your specific kit, and takes up very little room. The border panels fit tightly to the inner of the case and are held together with pins that you push in. You then decide how you want to divide up the interior. Using the supplied cutter, just cut the interior dividers and pin them together for a full custom fit. If your gear changes, you can alter the panels or cut new ones. By saving interior space, the thin, light TrekPak systemgives the maximum amount of interior space for the minimum weight, while protecting gear from knocks thanks to its impact-reducing design. From the new 1745 Peli Air case for equipment like tripods to cases for drones, monitors, laptops andmemory cards, Peli is the obvious choice for serious filmmakers. And all are covered by Peli’s ‘You break it, we replace it… forever’ promise.

heavy steel dart dropped on them tomake sure they’re not penetrated and wheeled cases are roll-tested, too. It’s testing like this that gets Peli NATO- certification of military standard, so there’s no safer way of protecting your filmmaking equipment. Also, many of the cases have silent-running wheels, extending handles for easy rolling and rubberised handles for comfort – ideal for filmmakers on themove. Peli has constantly redesigned and upgraded its cases, reacting to what pro users need. In recent years, withmore small production crews and limits on weight and size for carry-on and hold luggage in aircraft as well as lighter weight equipment, the focus has turned tomaking even lighter cases. Being Peli, this was always going to be without compromising durability. The 12-strong Peli Air range offers significant weight-saving over the same- sized standard Peli cases, tipping the scales at up to 40% less. But they still have the key features, like watertight O-ring gasket, pressure release valve, double-throw safety latches, rubberised handles, rugged wheels, lockable hasps andmore. To reduce weight without affecting toughness, Peli shaved the grams off everything not essential, like handles. It also reshaped the lid. After extensive testing to ensure no reduction in strength, a new resin was used and the walls of the cases were made slightly thinner, but the important areas for strength, such as the corners, were left as burly as ever. Significant weight savings have also beenmade inside the cases. As well as the traditional Pick ‘n’ Pluck foam, two padded sets are now offered. The Padded Divider
