HEALTH & WELLNESS

THERE’S GOOD NEWS FOR THOSE MISSING THE CAMARADERIE AND MOTIVATION OF GROUP FITNESS CLASSES AND WE’VE GOT JUST THE THING FOR FILLING THOSE AFTER-SCHOOL HOURS FOR TEENS

Designed for those aged between 11 and 17, Prodigy is a F45 concept based around a challenging but fun workout to improve fitness, agility and strength. F45 has earned itself quite the reputation for its pulse-raising regimes and its Prodigy sessions are no different. All of the 36 fitness classes that are offered at F45 can be adapted for Prodigy members, with less weights and resistance, more focus on bodyweight exercises and slight adjustments in the movements and number of reps. All of the Prodigy classes have been designed by the F45 athletics team and are a combination of cardio and resistance, making them suitable to do every day. Also, the classes are time-based, so you don’t have to worry about rushing your reps. Two F45 trainers run the classes, ensuring everyone gets the motivation and attention they need, and the classes remain challenging as you get better and fitter over time. “The best thing about F45 is the community and the friendships formed with people you work out with,” says Sarah Craske, owner of F45 Cambridge Station. “Although the new classes have been trialled in Australia in the last nine months, Cambridge Station is the first studio in UK to launch Prodigy, so we are really excited to see what people think,” adds Sarah. Each Prodigy class is 45 minutes long, starting from around 4pm on weekdays – perfect for fitting in after school. Keep an eye on the F45 website for more details on how to sign up. f45training.co.uk/cambridgestation PRODIGY SESSIONS AT F45

FRESH. STUDIO

After launching their hugely successful online classes at the start of lockdown, friends and fitness professionals Sara Ford and Alice Loombe are opening their very own FRESH. wellbeing and fitness studio in Ely, thanks to community asset funding from Sport England. FRESH. promises to be accessible and welcoming, with an emphasis on inclusion to provide a nurturing environment for all, but especially the most vulnerable members of the community. “We want to create a kind and open culture at FRESH., where we can support everybody with their physical and mental wellbeing and be a hub for other local businesses,” says Alice. “We’re creating something that is going to impact so many people.” There is an impressive range of classes to choose from, so you’re bound to find something that’s up your street. Those looking to work up a sweat can sign up for the studio’s HIIT, pilates or dance classes, or if you’re looking to slow down, you can try out the mental strength workshops or meditation sessions. Alongside myriad membership packages on offer, Sara and Alice are providing one free class a day for community groups, under-represented groups, charities or the elderly. FRESH. is opening this month in Ely. freshandwell.co.uk
