CVP and Canon honour young filmmakers New video competition Stories in Motion rewards the best creative shorts from emerging talent
C VP is partnering with Canon UK and Ireland to search for creative short films through its Stories in Motion young filmmaker competition. The contest is open to those aged 18 to 25, offering up an opportunity to win prizes like a Canon EOS C70 and RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM lens, the chance to shadow an award-winning filmmaker, as well as CVP vouchers. With three categories open for entries including music video, documentary and scripted short, the competition welcomes all fields of cinematography. Entrants can submit a maximum of three films, each in one of the three competition categories. Entries will be judged by a panel with vast experience in the world of imaging excellence. filmmaker, Tania Freimuth; and award- winning filmmaker, editor and colourist, Ollie Kenchington. Supplied shorts will be assessed on originality, creativity, cinematography and post-production. Five entries will be shortlisted per category, with one winner for each category and one final overall grand prize winner. All shortlisted entries will win a £200 voucher to spend at CVP and category winners get an extra £500 CVP voucher. The overall grand prize winner will win a Canon EOS C70 and RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM lens, plus the opportunity to work with a judge of their choice for the day. Neale Conroy, Canon UK and Ireland marketing director, said: “We are passionate about supporting the next generation of filmmakers, and Stories in Motion is a great platform for storytellers to showcase to an industry-leading judging panel. With a chance to experience a day’s mentorship with one of the judges, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for those looking to make their way in the industry, also providing the prospect to learn and grow. We can’t wait to see all the entries.” The competition opened on 18 January with entries closing on 31 March. Shortlists will be announced on 6 April.
