PRO MOVIEMAKER RATING: 9/10 The unique look of a fast, wide prime – and affordable Pros: Fast maximum aperture, image quality Cons: No built-in image stabilisation At middle apertures, everything is as sharp as you would expect. But go wide open and the magic starts to happen, with a unique perspective and shallow plane of focus. Sigma doesn’t have a monopoly on premium AF primes for full-frame mirrorless. But in reality, there are few to choose from. Sony has the 24mm f/1.4 GM – a stunning performer, but just shy of twice the price. glass filters or gels. A locking lever on the 24mm version catches these filters, and a template for cutting your own comes with both kits. Each lens focuses extremely quickly and silently, showing little evidence of focus breathing – although this is hard to detect in wide lenses compared to telephotos. Optically, they perform very well, giving high-contrast results with just
